song of the earth

here and there and all around you,

pressed up against you,

streaming through you,

enfolding you with living harmony

is the song of the earth.

(it’s right here, above you, below you, behind you, in you,

of you. It’s right next to you, there, pressing up against your skin)

all you need to do

to hear the song is turn;
turn to the small thing, turn to the humble thing,

turn to the living thing, turn into the world,

turn towards the sun, turn your face to the stars,

turn yourself around and look

at your brothers and sisters in fur and feathers and leaf.

turn to your family of sea and sky,

turn to the rocks,

turn to the trees.

turn around my dear and start singing.
